A few years ago I wrote the music for Allan Provost’s lyric about a feeling of sadness at Christmas time, “Where Will I Be Next Christmas?”, which may be appropriate for these pandemic times.
For some reason, this year, maybe because I was thinking about simpler, happier times in the past, or perhaps thinking ahead to a post-pandemic Christmas, I don’t know, but I decided to write a cheerful song, “A Christmas Toast”.
And so here they are:
A Christmas Toast – Music and Lyrics by John Dusenberry
Where Will I Be Next Christmas? – Lyrics by Allan Provost, Music by John Dusenberry
And then a few years later, Elizabeth Keyser, sister of my friend and former workmate Ralph Keyser, asked me to set her "A Seasonal Preference" poem to music. It's about a preferred way of celebrating the holiday.
